The Lazy RT Ranch is full service horse breeding farm, located on the outskirts of Dade City, Florida. It is easily accesible from SR 52 and it's just minutes from I-75. The ranch is on 30 lush acres, all of which is three board fenced with the animals safety in mind. We have a fully equipped breeding facility with state-of-the-art equipment and we work closely with our veterinarian, Dr. Brian Dillard. My daughter Tiffany and I are members of AQHA, APHA and PHBA.
We moved to Dade City in 1997, and had a few trail horses. Tiffany started taking riding lessons and decided she wanted to start barrel racing. Well, that's when it all began. First we sold our trail horses, and then we bought her first barrel horse. It has been a chain reaction ever since. To watch foals being born, and then see those same foals starting on barrels has become our life. It is so fulfilling to watch each of them blossom.
We professionally breed performance horses, with excellent bloodlines, to create horses with good temperaments and athletic ability. Our foals are imprinted as soon as they are born, and they are handled on a daily basis. All of our horses young and old are walked in and out to their pastures everyday, so they are continually getting their ground work. We have a 60' round pen and a 180' x 300' lighted arena. Our full time trainer Tiffany Styck works with all of our young horse from ground work, to driving reins, to introducing them to the saddle before a rider. Our horses are on a scheduled working program and are handled with disciplined TLC. When they are ready Tiffany starts and finishes them on barrels.
We have three barns with a total of 20 stalls that are matted, and bedded with clean dust free shavings. Our broodmare barn consists of five 12' x 24' stalls, and there are four more stalls being added to that barn. Each broodmare stall is fully equipped with a video/audio camera, so the mares can be observed without disruption on a quad monitor 30 days prior to their due date around the clock.
We have been to several reproductions clinics, which we have
been found helpful, and inspired us to hold one of our own. People
came from all over the U.S. and Aruba to attend our clinic. It
went very well, and we plan to arrange and hold more reproduction
clinics in the future. Besides my veterinarian, I also work closely
with Karen Berk at Equine Repoduction Services. Purina Mills was
one of our sponsors at the clinic and I have attended teh Purina
Research Center in St. Louis, for Broodmare and Foal nutrition.
I have also attended Layman's Day at the AAEP Convention in Orlando.
Dr. La Blanc DVM was a speaker at the convention and she is a
reproduction specialist as well.
Nutrition is a very important part of our facility. We strictly
feed Horsemans Edge to all of our horses incliding the foals. Besides
pasture and Strategy, we feed Tifton 44 hay that has been maintained
and has a protein level of 18%. Balanced nutrition is a major
factor for producing strong healthy foals and strong performance
horses.
